Overview

The "OpenDrama 72-Hour Creation Contest" is the first AI short drama creation competition hosted by the OpenDrama platform. The contest aims to discover and showcase creators' talents in using AI tools to produce short dramas, and to advance AI-assisted filmmaking.

Contestants will choose one of 3 randomly assigned scripts provided by the platform, and complete an entire AI short drama — from character design and storyboarding to video generation — within 72 hours. Creators are free to use any AI tool, not limited to the OpenDrama platform.

Creators retain full copyright of all works. All visual assets must be AI-generated. Motion capture is allowed, but live-action footage is not. Contestants must disclose the AI models and workflows used.

The contest is open to creators worldwide. Whether you are a professional screenwriter, independent director, AI creation enthusiast, or student — if you have a story to tell, you are welcome to enter.

⚖️4. Judging

Final Score = Judge Score (60%) + Audience Vote (40%)

Judge Score (max 60 pts)

Each judge independently scores entries on four dimensions (1–10), and the average of all judges' scores is used:

📖
Story
Plot structure, character development, dialogue
🎬
Visuals
Image quality, cinematography, visual consistency
💡
Creativity
Originality, clever use of AI tools
Overall
Completion, viewing experience

Judge Score = Average Score ÷ 10 × 60

Audience Vote (max 40 pts)
  • Each registered user may cast 1 vote during the judging period
  • Contestants may not vote for their own entry
  • Audience Score = (entry votes ÷ highest vote count) × 40

Absolutely! OpenDrama's AI creation tools allow anyone to produce a short drama from scratch. The platform provides full AI assistance from script to video — all you need is a good story.

QIs the 72 hours continuous or can I take breaks?

The 72 hours are continuous from the moment the creation period starts. We recommend using the registration period to familiarize yourself with the platform tools and outline your story so you can work efficiently.

QCan I use AI tools outside the OpenDrama platform?

Yes! This contest places no restrictions on tools. You can use OpenDrama platform tools or any AI creation tool you prefer (e.g., Runway, Pika, ComfyUI). The only requirements are that all visual assets must be AI-generated (motion capture is allowed), no live-action footage, and you must disclose your models and workflow at submission.

QIs the script provided by the platform or do I write my own?

The platform will publish 3 random scripts at the start of the creation period. You must choose one as your foundation and may freely adapt and expand on it. All contestants share the same set of scripts — the contest tests your unique creative interpretation of the same material.

QWho owns the copyright to my entry?

You retain full copyright of your work. OpenDrama only receives permission to display and promote the work on the platform. You are free to publish and commercialize your work on other platforms.

QHow are prizes distributed?

Cash prizes are paid via bank transfer or PayPal (winners must provide payment details). Platform coins and benefits are automatically credited to winners' accounts after the results are announced.
