Concept prompts for clean image-to-3D models
From the OpenDrama Create Wiki
Image-to-3D tools rebuild what they see, and image models love to draw exactly what breaks reconstruction: dramatic rim light, wide-angle perspective, a cropped foot, a cape in the wind, a sword across the chest. These templates produce the opposite, a concept that reads like a studio photo of a figurine, so Tripo, Meshy, Rodin or Hunyuan3D give you a clean, closed shape on the first or second try.
There are five templates: a single prop, a character in A-pose, an orthographic turnaround sheet, an edit that makes matching extra views from an approved image, and an edit that turns an existing illustration into a usable reference. They are written for natural-language image models (Nano Banana, GPT Image, Flux) and adapt to Midjourney with a few parameters.
What it's for
Use these when the image is going to become a model rather than be shown as art. The rules they encode work even without the templates:
- One object, whole, centred. It fills 70–85% of a square frame with margin on every side. A cropped foot comes back as a stump.
- Plain background, no scenery. White or light grey, so cutting it out is clean and no stray pixels become floating geometry.
- Flat, even light. Soft front light, no hard shadows, no rim light, no glossy highlights. Any light in the image gets painted into the texture.
- A view that shows depth without distortion. Props in three-quarter view from slightly above; characters straight on. A telephoto, almost orthographic look keeps proportions true.
- A neutral pose. Arms 45° from the body, feet apart, hands open, mouth closed. Limbs that touch get fused.
- Chunky, readable forms. Nothing thinner than about 2% of the object's height: no loose strands, chains, wires, thin straps or floating parts. Painted detail survives; sculpted micro-detail doesn't.
- Matte, opaque materials. Glass, chrome and glowing parts come back as holes or blobs. Paint them as opaque colour and add the effect in the engine.
What it won't do: it won't rescue a weak design, and it doesn't keep a whole cast consistent by itself. Use the character sheet prompt for that, then come back here for the 3D-ready version. Everything after the image (generation, decimation, UVs, scale, export) is in image-to-3D assets.
